The Istrian Story

A viticultural kingdom on red soil

At the far southern tip of the Istrian peninsula, in Šišan near Pula, Bruno Trapan planted his "viticultural kingdom" at the Ćuf site — on the same latitude as some of the world's most renowned wine regions.

The vineyards stretch across 12 hectares of Istrian red soil — terra rossa rich in minerals and laced with limestone — farmed organically to preserve the authenticity and natural character of the vine. Sun all day, ventilated by sea air, and harvested by hand at yields barely over a kilogram per vine.

Among whites, Malvazija Istarska leads, with a smaller share of Chardonnay. Among reds, Teran — an indigenous grape of immense potential — takes the lead alongside Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, their aromatics elevated by mineral-rich soil and the nearby sea.

The wines ferment spontaneously, age in acacia and oak, and are bottled unfiltered. The flagship Uroboros has rated over 90 points every vintage since 2016.
